GARDEN BUILDINGS
Garage and/or shed
Do you want a garage solely to keep your car in or can it also be used to store tools? A shed or garage is a must for storing tools and furniture and is especially useful if you have children so that you can store their toys in there out of the way.
If you already have a shed that is in a good condition, you can move it just about anywhere in the garden to suit your plans. You don't even need to take it apart to do this, just get a few people to assist you and push it over long lengths of wood or scaffold poles. (Remember to empty it first!)
If space is limited, you can think about a car port instead of a garage. This way, you will have shelter for your car in winter and you can use the car port as an additional sitting place in summer.
Playhouse
If you have the space, then giving your children a place to call their own in the garden is a really good idea. This could be a purpose built playhouse (and there are a great deal to choose from) or it can be an ordinary garden shed which you have customised. You can even make your playhouse more exciting by building it on top of a deck to give it a tree house feel. Of course, if you have a suitable tree in your garden, you could even have a go at building a real tree house.
Garden room or office
Do you want a place to get away from it all? Do you work from home and need more space? A garden room or office can be good if you have limited space inside the house. For people who work from home, it also helps to establish to other members of the household that you are at work and are not to be disturbed.
Wooden garden rooms come in all shapes and sizes and some can be purchased at a reasonable price. You will have to think about how warm it will be in winter and may have to include additional insulation and, of course, you will need to be able to run power out to it.
Another use for a garden room is for housing a hot tub - sheer luxury! Hot tubs are coming down in price and one which is located under cover gives you privacy and extends its use into the winter.
Gazebos
Gazebos will provide a sheltered place to sit, giving shade in the summer and a certain amount of protection from wind and light rains.
Greenhouse
If you intend to garden as a hobby - to grow your own vegetables, cut flowers or bedding plants, you might need a greenhouse or poly tunnel.
